THE MAUI CLINIC AND OUR MISSION
Do you have pain? A bad knee or a hurting back? Your shoulder doesn't quite function the way it used to? Hip pain, and you can't sleep on your side? Sprained an ankle on a hike? These are all common injury and pain disorders. Everyone seems to get them at one point or another. Whitfield Reaves and his special techniques of sports acupuncture is the perfect fit. He specializes in these orthopedic conditions, and his exacting anatomical assessment and precise treatment protocols are why patients walk in the door.

Whitfield Reaves is dedicated to provide an integrated medicine – the best of both the East and the West. Acupuncture Sports Medicine, developed over the last three decades, offers this unique and effective approach. Whitfield has the knowledge and the experience to help you. With clear communication and the "right" treatment, you can heal your injuries and feel better!

Most of the patients come for the treatment of injury, pain, and musculoskeletal disorders. But you don’t need to be an athlete to be treated at our clinic. Whitfield works with all ages and all levels of active individuals. And we have close association with complementary medical practitioners if your case requires more than acupuncture treatment. If acupuncture is not right for you and your condition, we will assist in finding the right practitioner for your specific needs.

There are many injuries that respond well to the treatment techniques of Acupuncture Sports Medicine. If you have been injured, experience pain, or have musculoskeletal dysfunction, please contact the clinic so we may determine how you would benefit from our diagnosis, assessment, and treatment protocols. A more detailed description of the conditions that we treat can be found on the page Conditions Treated.

THE INITIAL OFFICE VISIT
The first visit is from 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on the case. Precise acupuncture treatment can only result from proper diagnosis and assessment. A short patient intake form and a discloser statement, required by the state of Colorado, is filled out prior to the initial office visit.

FOLLOW-UP OFFICE VISITS AND TREATMENTS
After the initial office visit, follow-up treatments are scheduled, usually for from 45 minutes to 1 hour. Most injuries and pain syndromes require treatment one to two times weekly. We always evaluate after six treatments. If there is not significant improvement after this time, we will find a referral to a practitioner that might be able to provide more effective therapy.

INSURANCE AND PAYMENT
At the present time, payment may be done with check, cash, or credit/debit card. We accept insurance only under limited and pre-approved circumstances.
